The future of clean water in the United States is in your senator’s hands. The Senate is expected to vote—as soon as this week—on an amendment to a must-pass spending bill that would prevent the administration from restoring long-standing protections of the Clean Water Act to headwater streams and wetlands that provide drinking water to 117 million Americans.
More than 250,000 concerned citizens recently wrote the Environmental Protection Agency in support of its proposed “Waters of the U.S. rule,” which would restore key Clean Water Act protections to more than half of our nation’s streams and waterways. These protections are vitally needed as more than half of our nation’s waters are rated in “poor” condition: unfit for swimming, fishing or drinking; and EPA studies show that the problem is getting worse.
Please take action now and urge your senator to oppose any dirty water amendments that try to stop the administration from finalizing the Waters of the U.S. rule.
