Kristin Ruben, ex-president and board member of OSFR, has forwarded the following information about this critical step in curbing development sprawl in Gainesville.
We don’t have the infrastructure and especially we don’t have the water to handle this huge increase of people in Alachua County.  Our Suwannee River Water Management District keeps on rushing down the road to La La Land by feeling guilt and duty-bound to give water they won’t have in the future.
They know the current usage of our aquifer comes not even close to what is replenished by rainfall, but they choose to ignore that and pretend it will last forever no matter how much they pump out.
Please speak loudly and clearly to these local authorities and request some common sense.

Hi all,
The second and final vote to modify land use designations for the Weyerhaeuser property will be held this Thursday evening at Gainesville City hall. The meeting starts at 5:30pm. Please contact the City Commission before this meeting to let them know your opposition to sprawl in North Gainesville.
Here’s a link to a recent Op-Ed on the issue.
