Here is our chance to stop Mosaic from destroying DeSoto County. On July 24 and 25, 2018, the county commissioners will vote on whether to allow Mosaic to mine for the first time in their county. As you can see by the snippet below (taken from the county’s website) the planning commission barely approved this.
Let’s stop it here and kill it forever.
The hearings will play out at the DeSoto County Administration Building, 201 E. Oak St., Arcadia, FL.
This link will take you to many documents and testimony related to Mosaic’s attempt to mine in DeSoto County. There are some excellent letters here giving many reasons to disallow phosphate mining in this county.
It is a long way from the Santa Fe River to Arcadia, but on several occasions, multiple people from that area have come to help stop the proposed phosphate mine in Union and Bradford counties. So let’s go and tell the commissioners to stop the mine. If you want to car pool from this area, please contact OSFR in comments. Day two is recommended.
We don’t need the phosphate in DeSoto County and we don’t need the land destroyed.

Why is it two days? Could they vote on the 24th or is that just for public comments?
