On Friday evening, February 27, 2015, at the annual members’ meeting of Save Our Suwannee, OSFR president, Merrillee Malwitz-Jipson was elected president of their organization.
The business affairs of SOS are conducted by a nine member Board of Directors which includes the President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and five Directors. Elections are held each year with the officers serving one-year terms and the directors two years. The board meets at least once each month.
Save Our Suwannee was founded in May 1993.
To put to rest any concerns, Merrillee will continue to fulfill her role as president of OSFR. Her current term expires in May, at which time the annual members’ meeting of Our Santa Fe River takes place.
Save Our Suwannee approached Merrillee to request help to re-invigorate their large organization. The evening was capped off by an informative talk by Dr. Robert Knight, who talked about the Suwannee River.
