The following if from event information from Mermaid Michi’s FB announcement.  Michelle Colson has been a avid supporter of OSFR and the Santa Fe River.

OSFR board member Merrillee Malwitz-Jipson will speak on Saturday at 11:45 am at the Florida Springs Institute location.

This event is designed to bring awareness of the inexcusable actions by the State of Florida which are allowing the slow death of Ginnie Springs and the Santa Fe River.  While totally aware of the harm they are causing to these natural treasures belonging to the people of Florida, the DEP and the Suwannee River Water Management District refuse to act to protect the springs and river from continual decline and deterioration.

The State of Florida believes that  anyone who wants to use its water to make money for themselves has the right to take that water even if it damages the citizens’ springs and rivers.

This is totally wrong and will eventually result in the demise of the springs and rivers.

Thanks go to Michelle Colson and the sponsoring groups.
