Another outreach for postcards to be sent to the SRWMD Board.  We must give them no excuse to ignore the public interest.  An e-mail remains hidden on a computer, but a paper card is tangible and must be dealt with at least placed somewhere.

You can make your own.  Above is an  admitted amateurish homemade example but that is all it takes.  Please remember to put your address.  All  you need is “NO PERMIT” or you can be more elaborate.  No need for the picture on the back, any lightweight cardboard will do.

A good size is 3″ by 5″  but anything close to that is accepted.  Stamp is .35 cents.  These should be sent so they will arrive by February 8, 2021.

The SRWMD staff has said the withdrawal impact will not significantly harm the springs nor the river.  The river flow is down at least 30 % from what it should be and the State is NOT trying to restore it, even though they say they are and they are spending money on it.  They well know that the river is over-pumped and is suffering from way too much fertilizer, but they continue to issue permits, because they exist to give permits and if they don’t protect industry they will be fired.

The old days when state employees actually tried to protect our springs and rivers are gone.  Today they teeter on a tight wire trying to give away all the water they can get away with and still keep a straight face while they pretend they are “protecting.”

It’s amazing what  the public will believe when a high-ranking authority such as a governor, legislator or DEP head says it.  If they say our springs and rivers are fine, how can it not be?

Kind of like “if they print it, it must be true?  Right?”
