 3 PROTESTS, 1 MESSAGE TO GOVERNOR DESANTIS:

Veto disastrous Toll Roads and Growth Management bills for the sake of working Floridians, water quality, and our natural environment

WHAT:  Three events will span two days, May 14 and 15, and bring a myriad of organizations, businesses, elected leaders, and concerned citizens together to urge Governor DeSantis to veto SB 7068 and HB 7103.

 HOLLYWOOD:  “TRANSIT NOT TOLL ROADS” PRESS CONFERENCE

 WHEN:  Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at 11:00 AM

WHERE:  Sheridan Street Tri-Rail Station, 2900 Sheridan St, Hollywood, FL 33021

WHO:  Confirmed speakers include Nancy Metayer, Climate Program Manager, The New Florida Majority; Richard Grosso, Shepard Broad College of Law at Nova Southeastern University; and Drew Martin, Conservation Chair, Sierra Club Loxahatchee Group.

 

  1. PETERSBURG:  RALLY TO GET THE VETO!

 WHEN:  Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at 5:00-6:30 PM (speakers will begin at 5:30 PM)

WHERE:  Northeast corner of Williams Park, 350 2nd Ave N, St. Petersburg, FL 33701

WHO:  Concerned citizens, costumed protesters, and representatives from US Congressman Charlie Crist’s office and participating organizations including Awake Pinellas, Defenders of Wildlife, Environment Florida, Florida Conservation Voters, Food & Water Watch, League of Women Voters, Progress Florida, and Sierra Club.

 

GAINESVILLE:  A FLASH MOB OF A TOLL ROAD PROTEST

 WHEN:  Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at 4:00-5:00 pm

WHERE:  Bo Diddley Plaza, in front of City Hall, 111 E University Ave, Gainesville, FL 32601

WHO: Concerned citizens, costumed protesters, and representatives and speakers from participating organizations and businesses including Center for Biological Diversity, Our Santa Fe River, Florida Springs Council, Rum 138, and Sierra Club.

WHY:  SB 7068 and HB 7103 have been identified by a wide variety of interests as being egregious attacks on the Florida environment and the state’s working families, and therefore especially worthy of veto action by Governor DeSantis.

There will be large crowds and visuals, including costumes, dancers, and posters.

  1. Please, please, please convince Governor DeSantis to VETO this bill. I have written him and called him. I will try to make the rally on Wednesday.
