Alachua Conservation Trust to Celebrate the Season with In-Person Holiday
Mingle at Prairie Creek Preserve on Dec. 18

Gainesville, Florida– Following last year’s virtual holiday event, Alachua Conservation Trust (ACT) is pleased to announce that this year’s Holiday Mingle will take place in person, outside Prairie Creek Lodge on Prairie Creek Preserve on Dec. 18 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

This annual celebration will highlight ACT’s 2021 conservation victories across the state and feature a live performance from local Gainesville band, Weeds of Eden. Boxed hors d’oeuvres, drinks and plenty of holiday cheer will be on tap.

At this event, ACT will also announce the winner of its Kayak Drawing of Chance, where one lucky ticket holder will win an 18-foot wooden kayak, handmade by local woodworker Bruce Proctor. To enter the drawing, visit www.AlachuaConservationTrust.org/kayak ww.AlachuaConservationTrust.org/kayak-drawing or purchase tickets at the event.

Proceeds from the kayak drawing and donations made at the Holiday Mingle will support ACT’s mission and work to protect the natural, historic, scenic and recreational resources in and around North Central Florida. The protection of Sawdust Spring, Little Awesome Preserve, Telford Spring and adjacent land to Manatee Springs State Park are some of the conservation projects that ACT has completed or will complete this year. Donations are needed for these critical projects.

“ACT is excited to celebrate the holiday season with the community and our supporters at our annual Holiday Mingle event,” said ACT associate director Heather Obara. “This is our first in-person Holiday Mingle since 2019 and we are looking forward to sharing this year’s conservation victories with the community and generating additional support for the protection of critical areas along the Santa Fe and Suwannee rivers.”

The event is free and open to the public, and attendees are encouraged to bring picnic blankets and chairs from home to enjoy the musical performance. Prairie Creek Lodge is located at 7204 SE County Road 234 in Gainesville. Press are invited to this event.
