Rainbow River Water Quality Meeting

Rainbow River Health Quality Meeting

July 25th at 2:00 pm

Rainbow River Conservation has arranged for Mr. Dan Dooley, Director of the Marion County Environmental Health Department, to address Dunnellon area citizens regarding the recent closing of the four river beaches due of high bacterial counts. The closing of all these locations simultaneously is unprecedented in the last two decades. Mr. Dooley will describe the measurement process and beach closing protocol. He will also answer questions from the public.

On July 22, 2009 the Florida Department of Health issued a bulletin stating that “water sampling results at the following
locations were found to be above recommended levels of bacteria:

 Village of Rainbow Springs Beach

  • Rainbow Springs State Campground Beach
  • Dunnellon City Beach
  • KP Hole Park Beach

Water samples at the above location failed to meet the United States EPA recommended limit for entercococci bacteria.

The meeting is open to all and will be held in the Meeting Room of the Dunnellon Public Library at 20351 Robinson Road in Dunnellon.  It will start at 2 pm and last about an hour. You should attend if you want to learn more about this matter.
