Saturday March 9th a team of adventurers set off to explore the plant life at Alachua Conservation Trusts‘ Santa Fe Preserve, South tract. The group was let by plant biologist Dr. Colette Jacono. This addition to the Santa Fe River Preserve offers an intimate view of a narrow, meandering course as the river draws nearer to its source.

Our next RiverFest hike will be March 16th along the bottomland forest of the lower Santa Fe River. We will be hiking along where spring green tints the high canopy and lilies carpet the ground.  The karst landscape in this specific area is renowned for its unique geologic features, alligator nursery, and turkey population. You can get your tickets through this link.

Thank you all who attended and contributed to our RiverFest Plant hike, Dr. Colette Jacono for your plant knowledge, Bill Basta and Kirk Moss for your assistance and photography.
