Two appointed to SRWMD board
LIVE OAK – The two vacant seats on the Suwannee River Water Management District’s governing board were filled Friday. Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Friday the appointments of George Cole and William Lloyd to the board, filling the nine-member group.
Cole, who is from Monticello, previously served on the district’s governing board. Also a member of the Aucilla Research Institute’s board of directors, Cole previously was an engineer with the Florida Department of Transportation and the head of the Florida Department of Natural Resources’ Bureau of Surveying and Mapping. The retired U.S. Coast Guard lieutenant commander is also a former adjunct professor at Florida State.
Lloyd, of High Springs, is the vice president of Suwannee Valley Feeds and is a former dairy specialist with ADM Alliance Nutrition. The appointments must be confirmed by the Florida Senate.
The appointments are the fourth and fifth in the past eight months to the SRWMD board. Larry Thompson was appointed in December, while Lake City’s Harry Smith joined the governing board in September and Live Oak’s Larry Sessions was appointed in October.
