FLORIDA QUOTE OF THE WEEK NO. 1
“For the federal government to have made this decision without any prior discussions seems punitive.”
— Lee County Commission Chairman Mike Greenwell, reacting to the announcement by the Federal Emergency Management Agency that it would no longer offer 25% discounts on flood insurance to `115,000 policy holders in Lee County, Cape Coral, Fort Myers Beach, Estero and Bonita Springs, quoted by Alex Harris of the Miami Herald. FEMA officials said they’d repeatedly warned Lee County that this would happen if they didn’t follow agency rules on rebuilding after Hurricane Ian — and they didn’t.
