A visit to the site of the Santa Fe River crossing on 117th Street, in Gilchrist Co. on Oct. 24, revealed work continuing on the sound baffle on the south side of the river. No pipe has yet been delivered on this side. The north side in Suwannee County has red pipe extending back but not nearly to 288th Street, where the exposed scraped earth ends. If one drives down 58rd Terrace and turns east, the pipe is visible there.
No local vehicles were visible. Most trucks have license plates from Texas, Oklahoma and a few from Maine. Sabal Trail is not into local jobs. Drilling is expected momentarily.
The sound baffle is nearly finished, with the final panels on the west side remaining to be placed.
Sabal Trail brings its own crews, no local jobs.
The red pipe is in place on the north side of the river. Land clearing continues north of 288th Street in the corridor.
