This is a preliminary save-the-date notice of an important springs summit in September. More information will follow and a website for the conference will soon be on line.
Up-date: the website is now online and can be seen here: http://www.springsrestorationsummit.org/
The conference will consist of a series of plenary sessions arranged in a logical order to first describe, on Day 1, the current knowledge about springs science and management. This will be followed on Day 2 by panel/audience discussions to explore and map out tools and activities needed for meaningful springs restoration and long-term protection. A poster session during the evening of the first day of the conference will offer the opportunity to encourage discussion of the springs’ current status by all conference attendees. The second evening will include a conference dinner and keynote address that synthesizes the conclusions of the conference.
Half-day field trips to Silver and Rainbow Springs to view their beauty and to observe their impairments will be offered on the third day of the conference.
Summit participants will be provided with a program that includes all abstracts and slides. This booklet will be designed to facilitate note taking. Participants will be encouraged to record ideas and questions that they think of during the presentations that can be shared and recorded in the discussion sessions.
