The Santa Fe River flows like a ruby-red necklace adorned with blue gem-like springs. Master Naturalist, advisor, historian, and author Lars Andersen will lead a small group along our gem-encrusted river, introducing participants to the folklore, flora, and fauna on a half-day paddle on March 23rd, 2024.

RiverFest in March is our annual fundraiser that enables us to raise awareness and provide educational programs aimed at protecting the Santa Fe River. This beautiful river, with world-renowned springs, supports a rich biodiversity of plants and animals, and also provides recreational and economic benefits to the community. The river is threatened by over-pumping, pollution, and housing developments, all of which impact its water quality and quantity.

The nine-mile stretch of the Santa Fe River, from the Hwy 27 Boat Ramp to the Hollingsworth Boat Ramp, showcases some of the most stunning springs and geologic formations. Master Naturalist Lars Andersen will lead a small group on this day to enhance our understanding of the river. Our Santa Fe River, Inc., is a non-profit organization committed to safeguarding the aquifer, springs, and rivers in the Santa Fe River watershed through education and advocacy. We invite the public to join us for the 12th annual RiverFest in March 2024. Throughout March, RiverFest will feature two guided riparian plant hikes, a ‘Springs Hop’ paddle on March 23rd, and a song contest on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at Rum 138, 2070 Southwest County Road 138, Fort White, Florida.
