Stacie Greco’s fora are always informative and entertaining, but we have an added interest this time because Merrillee Malwitz-Jipson will give a presentation on the newly-formed group Friends of Rum Island Park. This park, just a short distance away from OSFR headquarters at Rum 138, is located at the very bottom of the county, and has traditionally been neglected by our county leaders.
Just recently the county has grudgingly turned lose of some shekels for improvements. Community leader Merrillee also recently organized the Friends group which has kindled local cohesive enthusiasm and pride in the park. This has resulted in a much cleaner and well-kept park. The Friends and OSFR have many plans and you will be hearing about some of them soon.
